Otaniemi & Kumpula

The first-ever InstituteQ Annual Symposium 2023 enables exchanging ideas and offers a window into recent developments within InstituteQ. It's intended to invigorate national quantum collaboration and provide an opportunity to hear distinguished international speakers discuss topics relevant for the quantum community.

This year the symposium focuses on highlighting and further refining key research directions in Finnish quantum technology. These include, for example, quantum materials, devices, algorithms and software. Get to know the full programme below.

Posters and flash talks

Posters
  • Poster sessions are held on both days at the immediate vicinity of the main lecture hall.
    Session 1 (6. September): 1) Materials, 2) Devices & information
    Session 2 (7. September): 3) Algorithms & software, 4) Applications
  • The posters should be mounted at latest during the lunch break on each day.
  • All participants are requested to print out their posters prior to the event. There is no printing service available on site.
  • The dimensions of the poster should not exceed A0 (85 cm wide x 119 cm high).
  • The text, illustrations, etc. should be bold enough to be read from a distance of two meters.
  • Pins for mounting the posters will be available.
  • Remember to dismount your poster at the end of the day. All posters left in the venue will be discarded.

Flash talks
  • InstituteQ group leaders are requested to give a maximum 5+2 minute flash talk to introduce their quantum science and technology related group activities each day.
  • Maximum four slides (.pdf format) per flash talk is allowed.
  • The slides should be pre-delivered to the organisers by 4 September. Send them by e-mail to minna.gunes(AT)aalto.fi. Name your file as follows: surname_focus_flash-talk_session number (Example: "Gunes_algorithms and software_flash-talk_session 1")
  • All flash-talks will be compiled into a single file for each session to avoid delays while changing between presenters.
  • Please begin your presentation with an introduction of yourself, your organisation, and your organisation's primary research interests. For the rest of the presentation, explain the essence of your work.
