InstituteQ coordinates quantum-related cross-institutional study agreements between the partner institutions. These agreements allow students of selected majors or degree programmes to sign-up for quantum-related courses organized by the other institutions. The aim of the agreements is to broaden the selection of quantum-related studies available to students.
Currently, there are two agreements:
- National agreement “QuantNet” between all the InstituteQ university partners, including only courses that can be completed online.
- Metropolitan area agreement “QuantEd” between Aalto University and the University of Helsinki, including also courses requiring onsite attendance.
The study administration process is handled through the cross-institutional studies service RIPA, and the system is used in each university’s student information system, Peppi or Sisu. Logging in to Peppi or Sisu, students can search and register for the network studies and automatically receive transferred credits for courses completed at another university. Please see more detailed instructions below.
National agreement “QuantNet”
The national QuantNet agreement was signed in spring 2026 by all InstituteQ university partners. Its aim is to strengthen teaching collaboration between the partner institutions and make a broader nationwide course offering available to students. The QuantNet agreement covers only advanced-level courses (MSc and doctoral level) that can be completed online.
The QuantNet course offering in academic year 2026-2027:
- TCM322 Quantum Computing and Quantum Information A (5 ECTS)
- TCM323 Quantum Computing and Quantum Information B (5 ECTS)
- TCM333 Open Quantum Systems I (5 ECTS)
- TCM334 Open Quantum Systems II (5 ECTS)
You can browse the course information (e.g., content, prerequisites, contact information of the responsible teachers) as well as the upcoming course implementations (choose the “Completion methods” tab) by clicking the course name. Please note that the teaching periods may differ between universities.
If you have questions about a course, please contact the responsible course teacher.
Instructions for students
Please remember to check from your own degree programme whether the network studies you plan to take fit in your degree. Do this before registering for the planned network studies.
Note that the studies are not available for exchange students. Also note that the late registration (jälki-ilmoittautuminen) is not possible for the network studies.
